What is DTF powder?

DTF powder, also known as a Hot Melt Adhesive, is specially formulated Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) , has been specifically formulated for use with DTF printing. It is a type of printing technology used in the garment industry. It involves printing an image or design onto a special film using a printer with specialized ink. The film is then coated with DTF powder, which is a special type of powder that helps the ink to adhere to the garment material during the transfer process.

After the powder is applied, the film is placed onto the garment and heat is applied, which causes the powder to melt and the ink to transfer from the film to the garment. This process results in a high-quality, durable print that can be used for a variety of different types of garments, including t-shirts, hoodies, and more.
DTF powder is becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to produce high-quality prints with vibrant colors and excellent durability. Our powders offer superb adherence, great washability and stick precisely to ink and not the film.

What powder is used for DTF?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing is a printing method that uses a special type of transfer film coated with a layer of powdered ink. The powder used for DTF is typically a sublimation ink powder, which is composed of small particles of dye suspended in a dry, powdered form.
When the transfer film is printed with a design using a DTF printer, the ink powder adheres to the surface of the film, creating a mirror image of the design. The transfer film is then placed on the surface of the substrate, and the ink powder is transferred to the substrate using heat and pressure.

Do you have to use DTF powder?

Yes, Without the DTF powder you will not be able to finish the DTF transfer or press the design.
DTF printing requires the use of a special type of transfer film coated with a layer of powdered ink. This ink powder is what allows the design to be transferred from the transfer film to the substrate being printed on.
The DTF powder is specifically designed to be used with DTF printers, and it is formulated to work with the heating elements in the printer and the DTF printing process. Using other types of ink or powder may not produce the same quality of results or may even damage the printer.

Additionally, DTF powder is available in a wide range of colors and specialty finishes such as white, black, metallic and fluorescent, allowing for a greater range of design options. So, while it may be tempting to try to use a different type of ink or powder for DTF printing, it is not recommended, and using the correct DTF powder will produce the best results.
White powder is generally used, black powder is just some dark clothes in order to prevent the color will be used, but the use of black powder will be relatively high, white powder is suitable for any fabric color clothes, and black powder is not.

What is the difference between black and white DTF powder?

The primary difference between black and white DTF (Direct-to-Film) powder is the color of the ink that is used to create the image on the transfer film. Black DTF powder contains black ink, while white DTF powder contains white ink.
When printing with black DTF powder, the printer will print the design in black ink onto the transfer film. This is ideal for designs that have black text, logos, or graphics.
On the other hand, white DTF powder is used when printing on dark or colored substrates. The white ink in the powder is printed onto the transfer film first, creating a white base layer that allows the colors to stand out more vibrantly on the dark substrate. Without the white base layer, the colors in the design may not be as visible or may appear muted on the dark substrate.
It’s important to note that while black and white DTF powders serve different purposes, they can be used together to create designs that have both black and white elements. For example, a design with black text and a white background can be printed using both black and white DTF powder.

How long does it take for DTF powder to cure?

This powder can be cured at 150? or 300F and pressed for 10-20 seconds. Press completed transfer once again for another 5 seconds with a sheet of parchment paper on top for better feel.
For best results keep DTF powder in an air tight lock bag. TPU polymers have a tendency to pull moisture from the air and may not perform as well when damp.

What fabric is best for DTF transfers?

The choice of fabric for DTF transfers depends on the type of ink or pigment being used and the desired end result.
In general, fabrics made of natural fibers like cotton, silk, or linen are ideal for DTF transfers. These fabrics have a porous surface that allows the ink to absorb into the fibers, resulting in vibrant colors and a long-lasting print.
Polyester and other synthetic fabrics can also be used for DTF transfers, but they require a special type of ink that is designed to bond with the fabric. This ink is typically more expensive than traditional inks, but it provides excellent color saturation and durability.
Ultimately, the best fabric for DTF transfers depends on your specific printing needs and preferences. If you’re unsure which fabric to use, it’s a good idea to test different types of fabric and ink combinations to find the one that works best for your project.

Can DTF powder be reused?

The question of whether DTF powder can be reused depends on the type of powder being used.
In general, most DTF powders are designed for one-time use and cannot be reused. Once the powder has been used to print the design onto the film, it loses its adhesive properties and cannot be used again. Attempting to reuse DTF powder may result in poor print quality or adhesion issues, which can compromise the overall quality of the transfer.
That being said, some manufacturers have developed reusable DTF powders that can be reused several times. These powders are typically more expensive than one-time use powders, but they can be a cost-effective option for those who need to print multiple designs with the same powder.

How to store DTF powder?

DTF (di-tert-butyl dicarbonate) powder is a chemical compound that is commonly used as a protecting agent for amino acids during peptide synthesis. To store DTF powder properly, follow these guidelines:
1.Store DTF powder in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from heat sources, direct sunlight, and sources of ignition.
2.Keep DTF powder in its original container with a tightly sealed lid. Ensure that the container is labeled with the name of the substance, the date of receipt, and the expiry date.
3.Store DTF powder away from incompatible substances such as oxidizing agents, acids, and bases.
4.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling DTF powder, including gloves, a lab coat, and safety glasses.
5.Do not store DTF powder near food, drink, or any other items that could be contaminated.
6.Store DTF powder in a location that is secure and inaccessible to unauthorized individuals, particularly children.
By following these guidelines, you can help ensure the safe and effective storage of DTF powder.
